The Monroe Doctrine is a document made by the United States on December 2,1823.It said European countries could not buy land in the Americas.The document itself was introduced by president Monroe.The Monroe Doctrine said western hemisphere was prohibited by European countries.Only if the United States would not bother the European countries.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monroe_Doctrine

The Chinese Exclusion Act was a United States federal law signed by Chester A. author on May 8, 1882.The first time Chinese people came to the United States began with the California Gold Rush of 1848-1855.As gold was becoming harder to find animosity towards the Chinese and other foreigners increased.The Chinese Exclusion Act was one of the most significant restriction on free immigration in U.S. history.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_Exclusion_Act

  1. Jeanette i think people were harsh, but the chinese exclusion act. I think that just because things in california was not going right,they should have not made the Chinese Exculsion Act for Chinese immigrants.
